Job Description
Develop your maintenance career at JLL! We are seeking a carpenter/handyman to perform various tasks related to building maintenance, repair, painting, carpentry, plumbing, furniture installation, and renovations. The ideal candidate should have experience in carpentry, general construction, and a strong working knowledge of various tools and equipment to perform workorders at our clients classified facility/campus. You will work as part of a JLL facility maintenance team of 5 at a 150,000+ square feet campus in Northeast Indiana!

Job Title: Stationary Carpenter/Handyman
Location: Fort Wayne, IN 46818
Type of Employment: Full-time w/JLL employee benefits within 1 month of employment
Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (flexible)
Reporting To: JLL Facilities Manager & Account Director
Additional Perks: no travelling, rotating on-call schedule for after hours emergencies, overtime opportunities, and on-site tools provided
Estimated compensation for this position is: $20.96 - $30.38an hour paid bi-weekly
The compensation range listed is an estimate and not guaranteed. A salary offer will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.

What your day-to-day will look like:Assess and prioritize repair or maintenance requests and create an action plan to complete tasks efficiently.

Perform carpentry tasks such as installing, repairing, and replacing doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden fixtures.

Conduct general construction work, including framing, drywall installation, flooring, and ceiling repairs.

Repair and maintain various plumbing fixtures, such as faucets, toilets, sinks, and pipes.

Conduct electrical repairs, such as replacing switches, outlets, and light fixtures.

Install, repair, and replace locks, handles, and other hardware on doors and windows.

Prepare, prime, paint and repair building interior and exterior surfaces

Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and address the issues effectively.

Inspect and evaluate the condition of structures, equipment, and systems to identify areas for repair or improvement.

Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Assist in maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task.

Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to efficiently complete larger projects.

Operate and maintain various hand and power tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Maintain a neat, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Skills and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; apprenticeship program or a vocational training program/trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable

A minimum of 5+ years as a Handyman or Carpenter, with a solid understanding of various repair and maintenance tasks.

Proficient in carpentry skills, including framing, cabinetry, installing doors and windows, and repairing wooden fixtures.

Strong knowledge of general construction practices, including drywall installation, flooring, and ceiling repairs.

Familiarity with plumbing and electrical systems, and the ability to conduct repairs and replacements.

Experience in operating and maintaining hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet project deadlines.

Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.

Knowledge and use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Building Management System (BMS) and Fire Life Safety systems.

Proficiency with using computer & software applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and comfortable using up to 30 foot ladders

Ability to perform all work using the proper personnel protective equipment (PPE)

This position may require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
