How You'll Perform the Role

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, training, development and support of our shift maintenance support staff. Responsible for maintaining safety, quality and productivity on all machinery and facilities, and for the execution of the Reliable Maintenance Program.

  • Oversees day-to-day activities of the maintenance department; Ensuring the integrity of all facility assets including production equipment, utility equipment and grounds.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance Team and inspire high performance through individual goal setting and performance measurement. Establishes and upholds high standards and expectations for a fix it right culture.
  • Acts as a teammate on leadership team collaborating in support of overall progress not individual function responsibilities.
  • Establish, monitor and act upon key performance indicators to improve line performance and reduce unplanned equipment downtime. Focus on efficiency -the best balance of productivity waste control and consistency of asset performance.
  • Conduct routine reviews and milestones reached by direct reports. Understand their gaps and monitor/manage training, OTJ progress and behaviors. Manages team attitudes to perpetuate a teamwork atmosphere with internal customers - the Ops group.
  • Prepares for daily operation meetings by providing updates, responses and execution plans to critical projects and machine status.
  • Effectively tracks all work orders through the CMMS software and other resources necessary to complete work orders in a timely manner. Analyzes trends issues and mines for opportunities within the details of CMMS - all in the spirit of improving reliability and managing costs.
  • Develop and maintain strategies for all equipment to include - obsolescence, upgrades, cost reduction and labor savings. See # 7 above.
  • Responsible for managing both the department budget and the annual capital budget. Develops well detailed justification back up in support of requested funds.
  • Ensures maintenance employees follow safe work practices and procedures consistently and completely.
  • Responsible for spare parts inventory and management. Obtains quotes, create purchase orders and track monthly spending.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned including participating and leading Operational Excellence and Safety Learning teams to drive a learning and collaborative culture.

What We Need From You

  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
  • 5+ years as a facility Maintenance Leader. 3+ years leading a highly functional maintenance team.
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery, manufacturing equipment and building maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of printing and paper converting machinery, conveyers, hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication.
  • Must be able to calculate gear ratios, pitch, etc. and be able to operate machine shop equipment (welders, grinders, lathes, cutting equipment, etc.)
  • Requires individual with excellent electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the application of Lean Manufacturing and Reliability (not just fix it) culture.
  • Safely operates a variety of machine-shop equipment to fabricate components using OEM specs, drawings or sketches while utilizing precision measuring tools
  • Computer literate in MS applications: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and controls
  • Basic PLC and VFD experience
  • Experience developing Reliability events and improvement through well executed WO and analysis -plans and prevents vs fix and react!!
  • Expert level experience in LOTO systems required
  • Experience maintaining maintenance operating costs/budget
