The primary function of the Supplier Quality Manager position is to plan, and coordinate with Production / Design Engineering, Purchasing and the Supplier Base to continuously improve the Quality of the parts received by USSI, improve on the ability to detect unacceptable incoming parts, and drive down overall cost related to purchased parts. This position also has responsibility for calibration of all electrical and mechanical devices that are maintained in USSI's ERP system.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

1. Formulate and maintain Quality Assurance objectives complementary to Maritime Systems policies and goals.
2. Inspire the Quality Assurance philosophy to personnel in the Supplier Quality organization, the Purchasing group, and ultimately the upstream supply chain.
3. Lead and Direct the total Supplier Quality organization for Ultra Maritime Columbia City and Victor Locations. This includes direct leadership of Quality Technician(s), 4 Quality Engineer(s) and Inspector(s) within the group.
4. Review data obtained through the incoming receiving department, and address issues or make adjustments within the inspection system accordingly.
5. Maintain the Supplier rating system and compile data that is provided to senior Management on a monthly basis.
6. Maintain the AS9100 approved Supplier Quality system and support AS9100 Audits as required.
7. Complete all First Article inspection for approval of all new parts / suppliers. Maintain data as needed for AS9102 for ASW Receiver products.
8. Provide support for any customer visits and/or DCMA.
9. Provide training for personnel within the department with either internal or external resources.
10. Play an active role on the quality management team within the organization.
11. Investigate and address customer complaints regarding part quality, this includes direct customer complaints as well as returns from field testing and from our joint partner Sparton.
12. Continuously develop and improve the adequacy of existing incoming receiving processes and support software (TIPQA).
13. Continuously upgrade equipment for Purchased Material Inspection on an as needed basis, providing future requirements during the yearly budget process.
14. Coordinate all efforts for non-conforming material, getting inputs from design, manufacturing and purchasing.
15. Coordinate efforts to return material to the supplier for analysis, rework or replacement.
16. Evaluate new suppliers and ensure that due diligence is given to identifying and managing the associated risks.
17. Manage the approval process when suppliers are added, their scope of approvals are updated, or there are changes in the location of manufacture, process, critical equipment, ownership, etc. With Supply Chain Management actively approved and disapprove suppliers as required.
18. Ensure completion of Supplier Surveys on a yearly basis, review the surveys when returned and evaluate any corrective action(s) that are required.
19. Evaluate key supplier locations on a yearly basis with purchasing and engineering as required.
20. Develop plans with suppliers to increase quality, and reduce internal sampling of their product at USSI.
21. Manage the Calibration of all mechanical and electrical devices used across Ultra Maritime Columbia City and Lapel organization for production, engineering and development.
22. Responsible for staying in compliance with EEO, ADA and all other applicable governmental requirements the company is required to be in compliance with.
23. All staff is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified in work instructions.
24. Performs all other duties as required, requested or needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Must be a US Citizen.
2. Must have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, applied science, quality assurance or an associated field.
3. Five years of experience in quality or a quality related field, in a manufacturing environment, and preferably as a manager.
4. Must have intimate knowledge of AS9100, and numerous DOD, ANSI and MIL-STD requirements as it relates to inspection, calibration and sampling plans.

Other:
* Must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
* Must have excellent understanding in root cause analysis and the ability to lead teams in the use of the data.
* Must be willing to travel to Suppliers (<30%).
* Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP systems, Minitab and other Quality assurance tools.
